Speaking during the presentation of a mechanical ventilator by Toyota Kenya to aid coronavirus patients with respiratory failure, Industrialization Cabinet Secretary Betty Maina says it is the high time that the Juakali sector artisans reach out to the ministry to get help and support by perhaps partnering with them as there are no restrictions.

According to the Kenya National Federation of Juakali Associations the country has over 17.5 million people employed in Micro Small and Medium Enterprises. However even before the Corona pandemic most of the Juakali artisans were unable to get credits from banks and to keep their businesses running.

This now coupled with a depressed economy means money is not flowing pointing to a total crumble in the industry.

The COVID-19 pandemic has seen more cooperates and learning institutions emerge with innovations attracting the government call for the calamity solution.

Toyota Kenya managing director Arvinder Reel said that the firm had taken up the call by President Uhuru Kenyatta for local companies and organizations to come up with solutions in the battle to combat the spread of the coronavirus.
