Eastleigh malls closed indefinitely owing to COVID-19 fears
Eastleigh malls have been closed indefinitely halting daily transactions worth millions of monies. This comes after an abrupt decision by the Eastleigh Business District Community, to help combat the spread of COVID-19 in the area. Now, Consumers who rely on the bustling business hub of Eastleigh will have to find alternative markets in the next week.
The measure directed will, therefore, see hundreds of shops closed. The Community’s Secretary General Omar Hussein said the decision to close without notice was intended to avoid panic shopping by residents. However, a number of entrepreneurs have expressed their displeasure within this decision.
Kamukunji MP Yusuf Hassan said GSU Contingents will be deployed to Eastleigh, to ensure that the directives are obeyed.
The national government is collaborating with the county governments to help curb the spread of coronavirus disease.
